Kindergarten

The children have been leading an interest in writing, practicing writing their names whilst exploring upper case and lower-case letters. Some children also choosing to write small 3 letter words and short sentences.

As part of our Father’s Day activities, the children chose to create their own cards for their dads and special people in their life. The children used the pens to draw pictures and wrote in the cards.

The children showed how well they could write as they wrote special messages in their cards with some guidance from their teachers. We have been exploring pre-writing skill over the past few months and have been supporting this interest throughout the classroom.

We are so proud of all the children and how confident they are in their writing and the positive dispositions and approaches they show towards their learning.

Senior Kindy

Over the past few weeks the Senior Kindy children have shown an interest in wanting to write letters freehand.

As other children are developing an interest from observing these children, we have provided a variety of resources in our literacy area catering for all levels of literacy interests i.e.: tracing templates, blank paper, different mediums of writing tools to assist with children’s developing pencil grip. i.e. textas, pencils, crayons, short/long pencils, paint, scissors have been introduced into this space to help strengthen children’s hand and finger muscles which will aid in their pencil grip strength.

The children are starting to recognize familiar letters learnt through the literacy area and are beginning to associate those letters with the letters in their name, establishing their identity in the Senior Kindy classroom.

Junior Kindy

The Junior Kindy children have been learning about Numbers and counting. This has been embedded in daily routines and transitions through songs, rhymes and books.

The Junior Kindy children are progressing very well with this learning and are all getting very involved as it is a new skill for some.

This photo was taken of a group of children during their self-initiated game, singing 5 Little monkeys while playing outside. This song has been an intentional teaching tool during transitions times, it’s great to see the children actively facilitating their knowledge during play.

Toddlers

The Toddler children have been very busy learners these past few months.

The Toddlers love being busy and making new discoveries. We aim to constantly provide the children a range of exciting open-ended learning experiences each day that the children can self-select.

We have been focusing these around the children’s growing fine and gross motor development, by providing a range of experiences that will help enhance these skills. Each day the children are actively growing in a safe and nurturing environment, it’s been wonderful watching their confidence grow.
